Customer Side

A small program is placed on a computer on your network. This program is called the DS-Client. The DS-Client collects, compresses, encrypts and transmits your encrypted data to the DS-System. The encryption uses a customer provided encryption key to uniquely encrypt customer data. Without this key, your data cannot be decrypted. It is very important to store this key in a secure location such as a safety deposit box. RevNet can store your encryption key safely for you should you prefer.

Backup Service Side

RevNet is connected to the Internet by a 20Mbit Ethernet feed from a regional fiber optic loop in East Central Minnesota. This fiber optic loop is connected to the Internet by 3 DS/3 45Mbit data circuits. Once your data reaches our network it traverses our secure firewall and is stored encrypted on our Fiber Channel drive array. This drive array is in turn backed up to an additional Fiber Channel drive array and from there passes on to our robotic tape library. For redundancy and peace of mind, we retain two backup copies of your encrypted data.
